Representative of Napoli forward Victor Osimhen discards ‘strange’ Manchester United rumours
The agent of Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has discarded the “strange” rumours linking the 23-year-old to Manchester United in the recent transfer window. The Nigeria international’s representative confirms the striker’s desire to stay in Naples.
In the summer of 2022, a swap deal between Napoli and United for Osimhen and Cristiano Ronaldo was being mooted. However, the Nigerian and the Portuguese have remained with their respective clubs.
Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss (h/t Fabrizio Romano on Twitter), Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, clarified that while several clubs were interested in the striker, he was happy in Italy.
“There are many clubs interested in Victor but he wants to stay, he’s really happy with Napoli project.
“We’ve been very clear this summer after strange rumours [Man Utd and Ronaldo swap deal], he wanted to stay.”
Osimhen signed for Napoli in the summer of 2020 from LOSC Lille. Since then, the 23-year-old has performed well for Gli Azzurri. However, injuries have hindered his progress.
In the 2022/23 campaign, the Nigerian has featured in eight games for Napoli in all competitions. The striker has found the back of the net four times and given one assist.
Osimhen scored his maiden Champions League goal against Ajax at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. The 23-year-old scored in the 89th minute to seal a 4-2 victory for the Serie A outfit.
United were seemingly looking to bolster the frontline in the summer of 2022. However, we managed to add just one attacker to the squad. Antony arrived in Manchester from Erik ten Hag’s former club.

Osimhen is a quality player with a seemingly high ceiling on his potential. Fans would not mind seeing the Nigerian Replace 37-year-old Ronaldo in the coming future.
