Teddy Sheringham predicts Tottenham Hotspur to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford
Former Premier League striker Teddy Sheringham has predicted Tottenham Hotspur to beat Manchester United on Wednesday, 19 October, at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils take on Spurs after a disappointing 0-0 draw against Newcastle United in the previous fixture. Man United fans will be hoping for the team to turn things around against the North London side.
However, speaking to Gambling.com (h/t Mirror), Sherringham, who has played for both sides, predicted Antonio Conte’s team to get the better of the Old Trafford side. The striker, who spent four seasons in Manchester, feels the group at Tottenham is more “harmonious”.
“The Tottenham camp seems a bit more harmonious at the moment and Manchester United are having a tough time, it’s been a bit up and down for them to be honest.
“I would say there’s not a lot between the two teams but because of the way things are I expect Tottenham to just about shade it.”
Conte was appointed Spurs manager in the middle of last season after the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo. Since then, the Italian has done well. The North London side managed to get the fourth spot in the PL last season.
Subsequently, Tottenham seemingly backed Conte in the recent transfer window and strengthened the squad. And Spurs currently sit in third place in the league. The Lilywhites have looked to sit deep and play on the counter under the Italian gaffer.
Tottenham have only been beaten by their North London rivals Arsenal 3-1 in the English top-flight. Man United are the only side to have taken points from the Gunners this term, as we won 3-1.
The Red Devils have had somewhat of a mixed campaign under Erik ten Hag. However, we have had relatively decent results barring the 6-3 loss to Manchester City.
Man United’s defence has looked solid since the pairing of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane. The Dutch manager has also managed to rejuvenate the likes of Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.
