Rio Ferdinand admits he was wrong about Manchester United signing Christian Eriksen
Speaking in an interview with Vibe after Manchester United’s 3-1 win against League leaders Arsenal as quoted by Metro, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand admits that he was sceptical about the Red Devils signing Christian Eriksen.
However, Ferdinand went on to claim that the Danish playmaker has proven him wrong and proven to be a key player for Man United and Erik ten Hag this season, which included a man-of-the-match performance against the Gunners.
Eriksen joined Man United from Brentford on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract. The comeback of the Danish superstar is one of the best footballing stories ever and his chapter in Man United has started off on the best note.
A player who was not expected to play football again by most people after his unfortunate heart attack during the Euros last year, Eriksen has bounced back and returned to playing top-level football in no time, much to the surprise of many people.
Whilst many did not expect Christian Eriksen to play a crucial role for Man United this season, the 30-year-old has started every single game and has proven to be one of Erik ten Hag’s most important players at least until now.
Eriksen’s transfer to Man United was not received with much fanfare. There was a feeling that the former Inter Milan man might not be able to play to his potential and that this move may have been a little too late for the Dane.
Rio Ferdinand was one of the several people who had this feeling and the former Man United defender admits that he was wrong.
“I have to hold my hand up I was one of those who was skeptical about the signing. It’s another signing I’m sure from Erik ten Hag it was his decision to take him.”
“I was a bit skeptical asking what’s he going to bring, it he going to start? Well yes he’s starting and yes he’s producing so Eriksen I salute you.”
Christian Eriksen put in a masterclass last night against Arsenal. His vision and passing was one of the main reasons that the Red Devils came out on top last night and Erik ten Hag will be hoping for more of the same.
