Manchester United seemingly uninterested signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Barcelona offer chance

Manchester United are seemingly not interested in the opportunity to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona. The Catalans offered the Gabonese to the Red Devils, but the club hierarchy was ‘cool’ about the potential as compared to Chelsea, according to The Independent (h/t Express).

The Manchester-based club are in need of options up front. Cristiano Ronaldo was the only forward that lived up to expectations last season. The Portugal international ended the previous campaign as our top goalscorer.

Bruno Fernandes was second in United’s goalscoring charts. All other players in the squad failed to cross the double-digit mark.

Jadon Sancho came to Manchester surrounded by a lot of fanfare last summer. But the England international failed to replicate his Borussia Dortmund form for United. The 22-year-old failed to settle in.

In the previous campaign, Marcus Rashford had one of his worst seasons in a red shirt. The England international looked devoid of confidence. The 24-year-old couldn’t make a place for himself in the XI.

Anthony Martial was another forward who couldn’t get into the team. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferred other options. His fate remained the same under Ralf Rangnick. The Frenchman joined Sevilla on loan in January.

Anthony Elanga was one of the positives from the last campaign. The Swedish youngster was given an opportunity in the side and impressed fans. While the 20-year-old didn’t get a lot of goals or assists, he was industrious.

The pre-season looked encouraging for Sancho, Martial and Rashford. They got themselves on the scoresheet during the friendlies. But the English duo were disappointing once again in the opening game of the new campaign against Brighton & Hove Albion. The French forward was sidelined due to an injury.
