Manchester United deny claims of being ready to sell Cristiano Ronaldo this summer

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have refuted the suggestion that they are willing to sell Cristiano Ronaldo in this summer transfer window. This update would come as a sigh of relief for the supporters following the earlier claim stating otherwise.

Ronaldo has become frustrated with life at Old Trafford and is looking to depart in this transfer window. That led to talk inferring how Man United have become open to parting ways with their talisman, who has attracted attention from Chelsea as of now.

However, it has since then been confirmed that “there is absolutely no change” in the Red Devils’ decision to keep hold of Cristiano beyond this summer. It is claimed that potential suitors like the Blues are contemplating putting in bids for the superstar, which means up for an interesting time up ahead.

Can Man Utd succeed in their attempt to keep Ronaldo?

If we stand a chance at convincing the Portuguese international to remain in Manchester, then it would be best to address the issues that are keeping him unhappy right now. It is stated that our lack of transfer business is one such reason that has led to him being disillusioned with his current life.

We have already brought in Tyrell Malacia, and a move for Christian Eriksen seems to be nearing with each passing day. That would strengthen our ability to convince Ronaldo at this point, although two signings would probably not be enough to make a strong case with the centre-forward.

That means we must also get hold of our other targets like Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, Antony and Lisandro Martinez of Ajax to give us a better chance in this situation. Ronaldo’s current decision is also influenced by the fact that his salary has also been reduced at this point.

The Mancunians have imposed a 25 per cent wage reduction on the first-team squad following their failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League. We cannot change that stance as that decision is certainly reasonable to cope with the shortage of finances that comes with this setback.

Ronaldo saw his salary get reduced from £480,000 a week to £360,000 per week right now. However, what we can do is convince him that the situation could change in the future. While the 27-year-old’s contract with us expires next summer, there is an option to extend it for one more year.

That means Ronaldo can earn the full extent of his salary if we could finish in the top four places in the next season. Erik ten Hag would probably have to play a role by assuring the forward that his project can help them reach that objective in the upcoming campaign. Whether that will be enough would only be known in due time.
