Jadon Sancho recalls training with 'role model' Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.

Cristiano Ronaldo left a telling impression on Jadon Sancho while at Manchester United

Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo were not together at Manchester United for long, but the latter left an excellent impression on the former.

Now on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Sancho has opened up on what it was like to train alongside one of the greatest players in the history of the sport at Old Trafford. Speaking to Dortmund’s media via their official Youtube Channel , Sancho touched upon the key aspect that impressed him about Ronaldo.

Unsurprisingly, Sancho has touched upon the Portuguese ace’s attitude. Despite being closer to 40, he is at the peak of his physical powers and continues to score bucketloads of goals for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Ronaldo was United’s op scorer in his only full season in his second spell in red. The fallout with Erik ten Hag ended his association with the club on a sour note. However, when on the field, he gave it his all and the drive to be the best was always apparent.

Sancho admits that Ronaldo’s drive to excel in every aspect was an eye opener. After all, it is what has ensured that he stays among the best in the game close to two decades now.

“If you want to be at the top, you have to train everyday the best. Even in the gym, even recovery is important.”

Having grown up watching the 38-year-old, Sancho admits playing alongside him was a dream come true. The duo did not play together for long but the Dortmund loanee certainly lived the dream while sharing the field with his hero.

“Seeing him, playing with him is a dream come true.”

It is unfortunate that Sancho could not apply the same effort in training, perhaps changing Ten Hag’s mind following their public spat. He has taken to life well at Dortmund, securing two assists in two games since returning on loan. Surely, he could have applied the same at the Theatre of Dreams.

As wingers, Ronaldo and Sancho had the opportunity to build a partnership that could have ushered in a new era for the club. Unfortunately the only parallel both of them have in red now is getting on Ten Hag’s wrong side and being ushered out of Old Trafford unceremoniously. Surely, Sancho should know that actions speak louder than words.
