Transfer News: AC Milan looking to offer Manchester United target Franck Kessie a new contract
According to il Corriere dello Sport (h/t Express), AC Milan are lining up a new deal for Franck Kessie amidst interest from Manchester United and his inconsistent performances.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Italian club for quite some time now. The Ivorian international has played 196 games during which time he has scored 32 goals and provided 15 assists for the Rossoneri. He has been an integral part of the Italian club’s midfield over time.
The Italian Media has blasted him for being an inconsistent performer recently. Despite these allegations, the Milan outfit wants to tie him down to the club for the foreseeable future. He also played an instrumental part for AC Milan last season which saw them finish second in Serie A.
The Red Devils have struggled in the middle of the park. The Fred and Scott McTominay double-pivot doesn’t seem to be working for Manchester United at the moment. They could use someone of Kessie’s caliber in their ranks to anchor the midfield and bring a bit more stability in there. The 24-year-old midfielder has also been linked to Paris Saint-Germain and English rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli also highlighted his wish to keep the former Atalanta BC player at San Siro recently:
“I would like Kessie to sign. The negotiations go on between the club and his agent, and I don’t think it’s the time to worry. With Franck, I only talk about matters relating to the pitch and I always see him as positive and serene, there are no problems.”
Franck Kessie could help address some of the problems that Man United are facing at the moment. A run of bad results have put a lot of pressure on the Red Devils. They have not only struggled to break down bigger oppositions but also leaked in a ton of goals at the back.

Amidst all of this, there is also a growing uncertainty regarding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his future at Old Trafford. The Norwegian is under pressure and it would certainly take a huge effort to get Man United back to their glory days. Kessie may take some time to get used to the intensity of the Premier League. That being said any move for the Ivorian international is purely based on speculation at the moment.
