Manchester United receive set-back as Edinson reveals extent of his injury
Speaking to the local media in Uruguay (h/t The Sun), Manchester United star Edinson Cavani revealed he is receiving recurring treatment for a muscle injury problem.
The 34-year-old had a slow start to the season after he returned from international duty. Moreover, the Red Devils had signed Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo by them and there was no shortage of attackers. However, Cavani suffered an injury issue during a pre-season game.
Regardless, the player started to feature in the first team towards the end of September. His first goal of the season, however, came at the end of October in a 3-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur. The Uruguayan international put in the hard yards on the night, but it came at a price.
Cavani to be sidelined with injury?
He aggravated a muscle problem and was benched for the midweek tie against Atalanta. He was unavailable for the Man City defeat but flew home to support his wife for her book launch. The striker has now revealed the extent of his injury while talking to the local media (h/t The Sun).
“Before the start of the season, I had pain in a posterior tendon, which kept me out for a couple of weeks…I was getting better, but after our game against Tottenham, the situation began to deteriorate.”
“Muscular injuries are pretty difficult to deal with, and I decided to have some treatment done to solve the problem…The treatment requires me to rest for three or four days after the session. Then I can resume normal activities and restart the treatment a few days later.”
