Manchester United plot out new role for Jadon Sancho in the starting lineup
According to The Athletic (h/t The Sun), Jadon Sancho is being tried out in the wing-back role by Manchester United amid the poor form of Aaron wan-Bissaka.
The Red Devils are going through more than a rough patch of form currently. The situation has not been so dire since Jose Mourinho exited the club in December 2018. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer steadied the ship back then, and it looks like he shall have to do so again.
But this time, it will be at the expense of his job. After being thrashed 5-0 by Liverpool, the Norwegian opted for a formation change. The team reverted to a back-three, with Luke Shaw and Aaron wan-Bissaka in the wing-back roles.
However, while the former has done justice to the role, his English compatriot, on the other hand, has not managed to do the same. The 20-year-old suffered against Man City, and then Solskjaer brought on Jadon Sancho to play in that position.
The £73million man showed due diligence at the back and also tried to attack. This would have caught the eye of the gaffer as they are now training the attacker in the wing-back role.
The English international is yet to contribute to a single, but it is thought that there are various ‘mitigating’ factors to his slow start to the season. However, after being benched for several games, this could be his chance to get back into the starting line-up.

Although it is an unnatural position for a forward of his talent, he could be the hero for Man United if he digs them out of a hole during this tough situation.
Thus, it is his chance to shine, albeit in a role he has never played in. Regardless, he needs to prove why the Old Trafford outfit shelled out the big bucks for him when they did, as Solskjaer looks to turn things around after the international break.
