Peter Schmeichel has urged Manchester United star Jadon Sancho to take inspiration from Cristiano Ronaldo amidst poor form
Speaking to the ‘Seaman Says’ podcast (h/t The Sun), Peter Schmeichel believes that Jadon Sancho will deliver for Manchester United and can take inspiration from Cristiano Ronaldo.
The former Borussia Dortmund man has struggled at the start of the season and is yet to contribute to a goal while donning the famous red jersey. The 21-year-old has mildly suffered for game-time this season as he has only managed three league starts, although he has not produced a performance off the bench yet to warrant a place in the starting lineup.
Fellow summer signing, Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, has not taken too long to adjust back to life in the Premier League as he has scored five goals in seven games.
United icon Peter Schmeichel has now explained that Sancho will come good for the club eventually, and has urged the young winger to take inspiration from his Portuguese teammate. Schmeichel told the Seaman Says podcast (h/t The Sun):
“You’re a young player in that squad, somebody like Jadon Sancho for instance. It’s a big, big, big price tag for him, and it feels a bit heavy for him at the moment.
“But he will look at this guy [Ronaldo] and he can say, ‘If I do something along those lines, I can be as good as him. I have all the basics, but I can be as good as him. That might take him two or three years to catch on to that, but that then gives him maybe ten, 12 years after that.”

However, to Sancho’s benefit, there will be a lot of games this season, and some crucial stars might also suffer injuries. If he does produce performances off the bench and contribute in the big games as he did in Germany, it could not be long before the winger nails down a starting spot.
Moreover, he will always have experienced heads like Ronaldo to guide him as the English international looks to prove his worth to the Old Trafford faithful.
