Zinedine Zidane is waiting for the France job amidst links to Manchester United
Speaking in an interview (h/t Express), journalist Eduardo Inda has revealed that Zinedine Zidane has informed Manchester United that he is holding out for the France national team job.
The Frenchman had a largely successful playing career as he won several trophies. However, little knew about his managerial talents as he showcased his footballing brain by guiding Real Madrid to three consecutive Champions League trophies and two La Liga titles in the last half a decade.
Zidane departed initially in 2018 after the club’s third UCL title but returned to the dugout a year later. However, he quit the job again at the end of the last season. Several clubs are keeping an eye on the former Real Madrid boss, with United taking a keen interest in recent weeks.
It was claimed recently that the Red Devils contacted the French manager during this month’s international break with phone calls throughout the week. However, it has now been revealed that the 49-year-old is holding out for the France job. Journalist Eduardo Inda said in an interview (h/t Express):
“Zidane said no because his dream is to coach France, and they have offered him double what he earned at Real Madrid. He tells everyone that his big dream is to coach the French team, but I see it complicated because it would have to be after Qatar.”
It has also been said that Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle have been trying to get him at their respective clubs, but Zizou himself is no ‘hurry’ to return to management.
