Transfer News: Manchester United behind Liverpool in the chase of Torino ace Gleison Bremer
According to the latest transfer news on Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb (h/t Football 365), Manchester United are trailing Liverpool in the race to sign Torino defender Gleison Bremer.
The 24-year-old made the move to the Serie A club back in 2018 from Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro. Since completing the move, the centre-back has gone on to make 71 appearances for the Italian outfit and has been a key reason for the club avoiding relegation in the past two seasons.
His incredible performances, however, have not gone unnoticed as Liverpool are said to be the most ‘active’ club to procure a move for the defender. The Reds already possess the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, and Nathaniel Phillips, while they also brought in Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig this summer.
Regardless, they are eyeing a deal for him while Napoli are also keeping an eye on the Brazilian’s progress. However, one another that have recently joined the race is Manchester United.
The Red Devils brought in Raphael Varane to partner Harry Maguire at the back this summer but are running the risk of keeping several defenders above the age of 25.
Bremer, who is only 24, can provide a lot of quality and become a reliable prospect for the Old Trafford outfit for many years to come. Torino currently pay the centre-back €500,000-per-year and have revealed that it would take a sizeable offer to lure their defender out of the club.

With less than two years left on his contract, the Serie A side are said to be valuing him at €25million. Although the Italian outfit are keen on extending his deal, it remains to be seen what decision the Brazilian takes regarding a new contract.
Regardless, United would try to jump ahead of Liverpool in the running and secure a move for the defender soon as they look to strengthen every area on the pitch.
