Transfer News: Manchester United suffer set back as Barcelona vice-president Rafa Yuste makes Gavi claim
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Sports Mole), Barcelona vice-president Rafa Yuste has revealed that they are ready to provide starlet Gavi with a new contract amidst Manchester United interest.
The Red Devils invested cleverly this summer and got in serial winners into their squad, while Jadon Sancho is also a fruitful acquisition and is likely to serve the club well for several years.
However, they have already eyed another youngster who could add a lot of quality and become a mainstay for the future. Barcelona starlet Gavi has been on the radar of the Old Trafford outfit, especially since he has a €50million release clause in his current contract.
Having already made seven appearances for the senior team this season, Gavi also became the youngest player to feature for the Spanish national team when he made his debut against Italy earlier this month. Thus, the talent is there, and United would certainly be landing an incredible player if they can get a deal over the line.
But Barcelona vice-president Rafa Yuste has now ruined those plans for the Manchester-based club as he has revealed that the Blaugrana are ready to provide him with a new deal. Yuste told Mundo Deportivo (h/t Sports Mole):
“I was very happy for Gavi, he has an inappropriate maturity for his age, instead of 17 he seems to be 37. We are going to give him this security so that he sees that Barca has to be his home for many years.”
