Dimitar Berbatov tells Manchester United ace Anthony Martial how to revive his career at Old Trafford
According to an interview done with the Manchester Evening News, Dimitar Berbatov has explained how Anthony Martial can revive his career at Manchester United.
The 25-year-old, who had an incredible 2019/20 season with 23 goals and 12 assists to his name across all competitions, failed to produce the same quality last season.
The Frenchman only managed to score 7 goals and provide 9 assists across 36 games last season, while he also missed out on the chance to feature in the club’s UEFA Europa League final in May. Martial suffered a knee injury in March while representing France and only returned to training earlier during the club’s pre-season.
However, game-time could be an issue for him this season after the Old Trafford outfit added the likes of Sancho and Ronaldo to the club’s frontline.
Former United striker, Dimitar Berbatov, who has played with Martial at AS Monaco previously, offered some advice to the Frenchman on how he can get back in Solskjaer’s line-up. He told Manchester Evening News:
“This is my only regret of this [Ronaldo] situation, maybe Anthony is a bit left out, and maybe he is going to be the casualty of all this…My advice is maybe to be a bit more open, a bit nastier, but not nasty like hitting people around like a defender, but more, ‘I want to be first-choice. I want to prove how good I am.’ I have my soft spot for Anthony because I played with him, he has great qualities. “

The 25-year-old forward has so far made only one start this season which was against Southampton, where he was substituted after an hour. Although he has come off the bench twice, Martial has failed to get on the scoresheet, and only time will tell how he fares under Solskjaer this season.
