Bruno Fernandes reveals what to expect from Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United
According to RTP-3 (h/t Express), Bruno Fernandes believes the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo will propel Manchester United further along in their search of trophies.
The 36-year-old shocked the football world when he decided to leave Juventus and return to United earlier this summer. While he is yet to take to the field in red, anticipation is building ahead of his second debut for the club.
Having played alongside Ronaldo at the international level, Fernandes is one player who knows exactly what to expect from the United number seven. He admits that the United squad is happy to get their talisman back and are soaring in confidence with him back in the side.
“We know that enthusiasm will be high, everyone knows Cristiano and is very happy and confident to have him back.”
The Red Devils have not won a major trophy since 2017. Despite making it to numerous semifinals and last season’s Europa League final, they have fallen ultimately short.
With Ronaldo now at the club, winning trophies could once again become an expectation rather than hope. Age has done little to temper his ambition and he sure as hell did not return to the Theatre of Dreams to retire without a whimper.
“Our goals remain and obviously, with Cristiano, we have one more reference to help us get closer to that.”
Fernandes has already spoken to Ronaldo and has gauged what the Portuguese legend is seeking on his return to the club. He has revealed that the 36-year-old’s ambitions line up perfectly with those of the players at United.
“Our focus and Cristiano’s, because of what I’ve already talked to him about, is to win what there is to win.”
United have largely depended on Fernandes to get them out of trouble on numerous occasions. With the likes of Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford around him, there are enough match winners to go by. The onus is now on them to make it count.

United take on Newcastle United at Old Trafford this weekend. Ronaldo has fond memories of playing the Magpies and scored his lone United hat-trick against the same opposition in 2008. Whether he will take to the field this weekend to torment the Toons again remains to be seen.
