Manchester United urged to sign Harry Kane by Gary Neville
According to an interview done by Gary Neville on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United might still not win the Premier League title despite their summer signings.
The Red Devils, who have spent a combined fee of over £100million on the signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, look like a force to be reckoned with as they boosted their squad’s quality depth massively this summer.
Moreover, the club have also been interested in strengthening the midfield department with the likes of Ruben Neves, Saul Niguez and Eduardo Camavinga linked to the club.
However, club legend Gary Neville is of a different opinion as he does not feel that the Old Trafford outfit can compete for the biggest titles without an excellent centre-forward. The former United right-back spoke on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football (h/t Daily Mail), saying:
“Chelsea have strengthened with (Romelu) Lukaku, Man City in for (Jack) Grealish, and if they get Kane there’s a massive problem for Man Utd.”
Neville also talked about how Liverpool strengthened in 2018 with the likes of Alisson and Van Dijk to get to ‘95 points’, something he does not feel United have done yet.
“I don’t know why Man United aren’t going that extra step this transfer window. They’ve always gone after the best English player in the Premier League, historically. With Martial, James, Lingard potentially offloaded, why aren’t they going in for Harry Kane?
“If Harry Kane entered Man Utd you get to 94, 95 points, they still have to replace Cavani and Martial. Martial is not up to it, Cavani’s getting on. Why not get the man now? I don’t know if they can win the league with Sancho and Varane.”

The former English international went on to also mention that United have an ‘expectation’ of winning titles and if other clubs sign better players, they will also have to ‘react’.
While both Varane and Sancho are yet to start for the Red Devils, one can only wait to see if the duo will be enough to get the Red Devils over the line this year after they finished 2nd in the Premier League table last season.
