According to the CIES Football Observatory Weekly Post (h/t Manchester Evening News), Mason Greenwood has been ranked second in their list of Top 100 footballers under the age of 20 after his impressive performances for Manchester United.

The 19-year-old, who made his debut for the club at the end of the 2018/19 season, became a part of the first-team squad in the following season.

Greenwood enjoyed a fine 2019/20 season as he made 49 appearances that year while he also managed to score 17 goals and provide four assists in the process.

However, the young Englishman was not able to repeat his fine form in the 2020/21 season, as he managed only 12 goals, five fewer than the year before. But, the 19-year-old has managed to retain his position in the squad this year as well despite the Old Trafford outfit signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

Greenwood has already scored 2 goals in 2 games and coupled with his good form towards the end of last season, the CIES Football Observatory has ranked the Englishman second in the list of the Top 100 footballers under the age of 20.

The 19-year-old missed out on the first position, which went to Barcelona starlet Pedri. The midfielder made nearly 50 appearances, racking up 3287 minutes for club and country last season as he was given an experience rating of 100.

Greenwood was a little behind as he received an experience rating of 75, after clocking in 2327 minutes across 36 games. Nevertheless, it is an incredible feat for the United starlet and he will be looking to continue his fine goal-scoring form next weekend as well when the Red Devils face Wolverhampton Wanderers.
