Manchester United suffer blow in pursuit of Eduardo Camavinga

According to L’Equipe (h/t Football365), Paris Saint Germain are closing in on the signing of Eduardo Camavinga, amid links to Manchester United.

The Red Devils, who have completed the £73million signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for £42million, are interested in signing a central midfielder, with the club keen on signing Eduardo Camavinga.

Although the Old Trafford outfit already possess the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, and Fred in the midfield, they might need reinforcements and quality depth in this department.

Paul Pogba could still leave on a free transfer next summer, while Nemanja Matic’s contract will also expire in 2023. Additionally, Van de Beek has been deemed as ‘surplus to requirements’ by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, indicating that the Dutchman’s time at the club could be over.

Thus, the Red Devils could do with a central midfielder, especially one like Camavinga, who is a great talent, and at his age, he could benefit the Manchester-based club for a long time to come.

However, United have hit a roadblock in pursuing the signature of the young Frenchman as it now looks like French giants Paris Saint Germain might seal a deal for the 18-year-old.

PSG were initially targeting Pogba this summer, but given he might now end up staying at United this season, the Parisians are ready to make a move for the French wonderkid.

Rennes are said to be open to cashing in on the youngster while they still can, as Camavinga is now in the final year of his contract. Thus, while a deal is still not completed, United could still consider hijacking a move for the youngster, although only time will tell where the 18-year-old ends up.
