Manchester United duo Jesse Lingard and Diogo Dalot have been ‘left in the dark’ over Solskjaer’s plans

According to Tribal Football, Jesse Lingard and Diogo Dalot are still not certain if they will feature for Manchester United this season.

Lingard, who failed to feature consistently for the Old Trafford outfit last season, joined West Ham United on a loan move for the second half of the campaign and the 28-year-old impressed at the club. He scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists in 16 appearances for the Hammers, helping the club secure a 6th place finish in the league table.

However, the player is yet to be given a ‘guarantee’ by Solskjaer that he will feature in his plans, according to Manchester Evening News (h/t Tribal Football).

The player has been linked with a move to West Ham again, and given that United already possess the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood, Daniel James, and Jadon Sancho in the forward roles, there is no certainty where Lingard features in the pecking order.

Dalot, like Lingard, has been kept at the club this summer after the club failed to orchestrate a move for former Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier. The club were keen on signing the Englishman but failed to match Atletico Madrid’s £34million valuation of the right-back.

However, given that both Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe have left on loan moves to Norwich City and Aston Villa respectively, Dalot might be the sole backup option to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The Portuguese spent the last season on loan to AC Milan, and although he was tipped to go back to the Italian outfit, he might remain at the club beyond the summer. Thus, while both Lingard and Dalot are still part of United’s squad, they might prefer a ‘guarantee’ by the manager rather than being left in the dark for this season’s plans.
