Transfer News: Manchester United seeking to raise £100m in sales as 10 players face the axe

According to English sports news outlet ESPN (h/t The Express), Manchester United are seeking to raise £100m in sales from 10 players who could leave the club this transfer window.

The Red Devils have so far made two signings this summer with a third one imminent. Tom Heaton may have been brought in for free, but the same cannot be said of both Jadon Sancho and soon to be Red Devil Raphael Varane.

United will now need to sell before they can finance further deals and ten players are on the list of potential departures. With the window set to run until September 2, there is enough time for us to bring in funds and then make a move for our other targets.

Pogba to lead United exodus?

According to the report, the ten players on the chopping block are Jesse Lingard, Brandon Williams, Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot, Phil Jones, Alex Telles, Andreas Pereira, Daniel James, Axel Tuanzebe and Paul Pogba. Of the players, Pogba can be named the most sellable asset we have.

The Frenchman has just a year to go on his current deal and is no closer to signing an extension. French giants Paris Saint-Germain are ready to pay £50million for the 28-year-old could lead an exodus that could revamp the whole United squad.

Lingard is another player who can bring in a decent amount. The English star was amongst the best players in the Premier League since the turn of the year and has seen his stock skyrocket. With his contract also running down, there is no better time than now to cash in.

It is interesting to notice Tuanzebe’s name on the list. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already confirmed that the youngster will be loaned out following the capture of Raphael Varane. Whether the club is truly ready to sanction a permanent exit remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, the potential sales of James, Dalot, Telles and Martial will impact our squad depth heading into the new season.
