Donny van de Beek and Victor Lindelof might not stay at Manchester United beyond the summer

According to 90min.com (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United are ready to let go of Donny van de Beek and Victor Lindelof this summer.

The Red Devils, who have completed the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for a combined fee of more than £100million, might be ready to make new signings, but need to offload some players first.

The arrival of Raphael Varane certainly means that Victor Lindelof might not enjoy a starting role at the club anymore and would have to make do with a place on the bench. Donny van de Beek, on the other hand, has struggled for game-time since he arrived at the club last summer.

It's wiser for Man United to hand Donny van de Beek more gametime rather than searching for new midfielders.

The Dutch midfielder may have made 36 appearances for the Red Devils last season, but most of them were off the bench, with the player racking up less than 1500 minutes for the Old Trafford outfit.

Moreover, United already have the likes of Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic, Fred, and Bruno Fernandes in the midfield line, while the club have also been linked with Wolves’ Ruben Neves, Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka, Juventus’ Aaron Ramsey, Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni and several others.

If the Manchester-based club do manage to sign another midfielder this summer, Van de Beek would not be able to get a lot of minutes under his belt.

Unlike Van de Beek, Lindelof has remained a crucial part of United’s setup since his arrival in 2017 as he was an integral part of the club’s road to the Europa League final last year. All in all, the Swede has featured 162 times for the Old Trafford outfit.

However, with Solskjaer looking to make room in his squad for more arrivals, the duo could be set to depart the club by the end of the month.
