Man United legend blames himself for ‘rubbish job’ at securing Jude Bellingham
Manchester United legend, Bryan Robson recently admitted that he did a ‘rubbish job’ at helping the secure the signature of Real Madrid star, Jude Bellingham. The former captain didn’t put in enough of an effort back when Jude visited Carrington in 2020.
Sir Alex Ferguson met the English midfielder along with Bryan Robson and Eric Cantona on that day. Let’s have a look at what the former United skipper had to say about Bellingham’s visit. (h/t Manchester Evening News)
“It was really looking promising that he was going to be signing for Manchester United… me and Eric did a rubbish job as he signed for Borussia. We thought we had him in the bag.”
Despite their confidence, Jude signed a deal with Borussia Dortmund and we all know the rest. Thanks to his stellar performance the 20-year-old earned a move to Spanish giants, Real Madrid back in 2023.
In just his first season Bellingham has already made 33 appearances netting 20 goals and 10 assists for his team. The Red Devils would’ve been lucky to have a player of his quality. Erik ten Hag is also a fan of the player and would’ve loved to have him on his team.
The team has struggled hard this season and if they would’ve had a player like Jude things might’ve been very different. But the 20-year-old has made a home for himself in Madrid and will likely not be leaving Spain anytime soon.
With Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham, the Red Devils sure have missed out on some terrific signings in the past.
