Transfer News: Manchester United still keeping tabs on Kieran Trippier
According to transfer news from SportWitness, Manchester United are still keeping tabs on Kieran Trippier. United may have cooled down their interest in the Atletico Madrid defender but they have not exactly forgotten him. It is just that United are not keen on the €40m valuation slapped by Atletico on Trippier.
It’s no secret that Manchester United could do with some added competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka. United saw last season how Telles’ arrival boosted Shaw’s performances. While Wan-Bissaka isn’t playing badly, he does need cover and competition.
Trippier is a proven performer at the club and international level as well. He was a part of the Atleti side that won La Liga last season. Trippier also featured in five games for England in the recently concluded Euros and provided the assist for Shaw’s goal in the final.
United have held an interest in the English right-back for a while now. However, it would seem they had cooled down their pursuit for a while. That not the case as United haven’t entirely forgotten about him. They are just having a hard time getting a deal over the line as Atleti want a sizable €40m for the former Spurs man.

United are right in having doubts over splashing that sort of money on a position that’s not really a priority. For now, Wan-Bissaka is doing the job and doing it well. Provided United can get a cheaper deal on Trippier or an alternative, only then they should spend their money.
