Transfer News: Manchester United remain in the mix to sign Spurs striker Harry Kane

According to a report by Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb (h/t The Express), Manchester United are in the mix to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.

But they are not the only club after the Spurs hitman. Chelsea and Manchester City also share an interest, with the latter currently appearing to be ‘frontrunners’ in the transfer race.

Any potential suitor, however, would have to meet Tottenham’s asking price of £200million. With such a high fee placed on his star striker, Daniel Levy is convinced that the striker will be at N17 next season.

Kane’s exploits are well known by now. The 27-year-old won the Golden Boot and Playmaker Award in the Premier League last season and smashed four goals in UEFA Euro 2020 for England.

Spurs want big money for Kane

That is a very big price to pay for any team to sign the striker. United already have Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, and Edinson Cavani who can play in the No.9 role.

Kane would undoubtedly be a quality addition, but if it means compromising elsewhere, then it’s better for United to start looking at alternatives. Defence seems to be the priority right now.

Harry Maguire can use a consistent partner in defence and Aaron Wan-Bissaka should have some competition down the right-hand side. If United are to spend in this area, Kane’s price tag would seem tough to match.

It remains to be seen if United want to splash the cash on Kane, having already spent £73million on Borussia Dortmund winger, Jadon Sancho. But if they do, and if the deal is feasible, then not many United fans would be complaining about it.
