Paul Scholes went on record to express his dissatisfaction with Manchester United’s summer signings. He critiqued Manchester United’s decisions and even went on to name 2 superstars who should’ve been targeted by Ten Hag.

The English midfielder served the Red Devils during the era of Sir Alex Ferguson. Since he is a figure who is well-versed in the club’s history, his words of discontent probably come from a place of care.

Here’s what Scholes had to say about the entire situation. (h/t Eurosport)

“You’re thinking the likes of Harry Kane, £100 million probably, you get him. He would have come here.

“The other one was Declan Rice for £100 million. You’re buying proper known quality; the right characters, who know about this club and the country.

“They’re quality; I thought it was so easy.”

Harry Kane and Declan Rice are the 2 players who Scholes believes would’ve been the perfect fit at Old Trafford. Moreover, seeing these 2 flourish at their new clubs must sting, as the other signings made by the Dutchman are yet to bear fruit.

Since joining Bayern Munich, Harry Kane has recorded 22 goals and 8 assists in just 20 appearances (Transfermarkt). A stellar display that would’ve been a welcome sight at Manchester United.

Declan Rice on the other hand has also been phenomenal for Arsenal. The Gunners are currently number 2 on the Premier League table. Rice’s contribution at the Emirates Stadium has been immense.

More Manchester United News-

Ten Hag’s season could have told a completely different story if these two were a part of his campaign.

While it is true that Manchester United could’ve had both Declan Rice and Harry Kane on their roster there is no point in lingering on the subject because what’s done is done.

What’s most important is that the Red Devils focus on making the right moves this January as they look to end with a top 4 Premier League finish.
