Lazio seek €80m for Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

According to Leah Smith of Stretty News and Caught Offside, it will cost Manchester United €80m to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has told the player that he can leave in the offseason provided someone coughs up what Lazio want. As things stand no other Italian side is in a position to meet this demand.

Smith goes on to add that the Italian giants are relaxed about the player’s future. Given their asking price and the current financial crisis in the sport, it is clear to see why.

The Red Devils were linked with the 26-year-old heading into last summer’s transfer window. A year on, little appears to have changed.

Seen as a replacement for Paul Pogba, United’s interest in him is understandable. The French ace is set to enter the final year of his deal at Old Trafford but is yet to make a decision regarding his future.

Milinkovic-Savic’s contract at Lazio runs until 2024, giving the Italians leeway when it comes to negotiations. The player himself recently admitted that his current focus is on staying put at Lazio.

It was reported earlier today that the Glazers are ready to splash the cash in order to regain supporters trust. One of the players touted as a target is Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish.

The English international was valued at £75million last summer. Given his performances this season, that number will only have gone up.

Milinkovic-Savic would in that scenario would be a financially more viable option. Whether that is something we are willing to explore remains to be seen.

Glazers have never been particularly liked at Old Trafford.

With 8 goals and 11 assists in 37 appearances this season, the 26-year-old Serbian is certainly worth the hype. He has also won 21 caps for Serbia, scoring three goals in the process. (h/t Transfermarkt)
