Manchester United legend Gary Neville is not one for holding off punches when it comes to Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side fell to a surprise defeat to Burnley at home last night, ending their proud run of 68 Premier League games at Anfield without a defeat.

More importantly, this has seen them fall behind in the title race. United now have a six-point gap over the Merseysiders with half a season to go.

Neville was certainly ecstatic about the result and it showed in his posts on Twitter. He took up a close up picture of his eyes to perfectly catch the essence of a similar emoji.

Following this he went on to post another Tweet stating “Football on Thursday nights isn’t that bad”. A aubtle hint at Liverpool’s loss, it could also make a passing reference to our Europa League commitments.

It is fair to say that the former United skipper was a happy man watching last night’s game unfold. It is not the first time that Neville has poked fun at Liverpool and it is unlikely to be the last either.

The Red Devils are Liverpool’s next opponents this weekend. Both clubs will take on each other in the FA Cup in what is the standout fixture of the round.

Liverpool outplayed us in the league game last week, although United can be counted as unlucky for not coming away with a win. With home comfort behind us, the Red Devils will be hopeful of putting the Merseysiders to the sword.

While it is always good to see our rivals fall, Neville could be jumping the gun here. There is still much to play for and we could yet win nothing this season.

It makes no difference whether Liverpool win or lose if we are not the ones capitalizing on the result. The onus is now on the players to ensure their hard work so far does not go to waste.

It’s not hard to imagine Neville going on a Twitter rampage if we do land the title come the summer.
