Gary Neville believes that Erik ten Hag’s future with Manchester United has already been decided
Gary Neville seems to hold the view that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already decided Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United. The Dutchman has long been linked to an exit from the club.
His failures during his second season at Old Trafford are far too huge to just wash over. But, he still has a chance to save himself if he helps the team reach UCL next season. Alternatively, an FA Cup win would also take Ten Hag’s stock up.
Neville believes that Manchester United under the Glazers were always too slow with their decisions. Now that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is here, the club can be expected to be swift with their decisions.
Here’s what Neville had to say about the entire situation. (h/t The Standard)
“I can’t believe they’re going to wait until May to make that decision and leave themselves short.”
“So for me I suspect that they’ve probably come to a conclusion already – it may even be, whether it’s Champions League or not, that they stick with that decision.”
Neville could be right. As things stand, Erik ten Hag’s future at United could be decided based on whether he can lead his team to the UCL or not. For now, his chances look grim.
The Red Devils were looking comfortable and were set to contest for a top-four spot in the PL. However, their recent loss against Fulham complicates things. Those were three points that Manchester United were in desperate need of.
Erik ten Hag needs to win every game in the Premier League until the season ends. If not, he might not be at the helm of Manchester United when the season ends.
