Manchester United coach Eric Ramsay to join Minnesota United this March
Manchester United are set to lose one of the important figures in the backroom staff, Eric Ramsay this March. The club’s official website has confirmed that he will take over MLS side Minnesota United as their new head coach.
There were reports last week from The Athletic, that Minnesota United are set to appoint the 32-year-old. It would appear that they got it spot on as Ten Hags assistant will now embark upon new challenge.
The Red Devils have now confirmed that Ramsay will depart Old Trafford following Manchester United’s game against Manchester City on March 3. Ramsay will take on Minnesota United as they don’t have a permanent manager after interim coach Sean McAuley left last month.
A huge loss!
The 32-year-old is a very highly-rated coach and is held in high regard at Old Trafford. When he takes on the reigns at Minnesota United, he will become the youngest coach in the Major League Soccer (MLS) at the age of thirty-two. The next youngest coach is NYCFC’s Nick Cushing at the age of 39.
Ramsay joined Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2021 in the role of player development and set-piece coach. He has now featured under a few managers at Old Trafford. He remained at the club under Ralf Rangnick before his importance at Manchester United grew as Erik ten Hag was appointed.
The Welshman has been around English football for quite some time now. He has experience with Chelsea, Swansea City, and Shrewsbury Town. He also worked for the Wales national football team before departing last fall.
Eric Ramsay’s loss will be a big one for Manchester United. He already has a big career ahead of him with high potential.
