Leeds United set to return for Manchester United winger Daniel James in January
According to The Telegraph (h/t Wales Online), Leeds United are ready to rekindle their interest in Manchester United star Daniel James in the January transfer window.
The Welsh international continues to struggle for form at Old Trafford. James has made just six appearances for us this season, with the last coming against Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League last month.
Although he scored that night, he failed to make the squads for our Premier League clashes against West Ham United and Manchester City.
This has seen Leeds sniff around in an effort to finally land the player. The Elland Road outfit have been long time admirers of the 23-year-old.
In fact, James looked set to become to join Leeds from Swansea City in January 2019 only for the deal to collapse at the last moment. He would eventually go on to join United that summer.
Leeds’ loss looked to be our gain as James got off to an excellent start to life at Old Trafford. He scored thrice in his first four Premier League games as he instantly shone for the club. So far, he has made a total of 52 appearances, scoring five goals and assisting seven. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Marcelo Bielsa was keen on bringing him to Elland Road last summer. Their loan bid was however rejected by United.
However, with Amad Diallo set to arrive in January, James could struggle to gain regular playtime at the Theatre of Dreams. The same cannot be said of his prospects at Elland Road.
James appears to be lacking confidence at the moment and a temporary move away would best suit all parties at this point in time.
