Kieran Trippier makes his stance on a potential Manchester United move known
According to a report by Manchester Evening News (h/t Mirror), Kieran Trippier is interested in a move to Manchester United in the future.
The Red Devils have been eyeing the English international to provide competition to Aaron Wan-Bissaka at the club.
United are short of right-backs, with young left-back Brandon Williams to provide cover for Wan-Bissaka in that area. Alex Telles and Luke Shaw are the club’s two preferred left-backs.
Trippier moved to Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2018 from Tottenham Hotspur.
However, this is not the first time that the 30-year-old right-back has been linked with a move away from Atletico. It was previously mentioned that Atletico are willing to sell the right-back for as low as £20m.
The Englishman grew up in the town of Manchester and is reportedly keen to return to the town by signing for United.
Trippier is into the last 18 months of his current contract. However, Atletico Madrid may not be open to selling him.
The 30-year-old has played every minute in the league this season for Diego Simeone’s side. Mundo Deportivo (h/t Mirror) claim that Trippier is ‘untouchable’ in the Atletico squad.
His importance to Diego Simeone, therefore, may prevent a move away from Wanda Metropolitano in the near future. Trippier has also praised the Argentine manager in the past and called him an “unbelievable manager”.
