Manchester United to prioritize signing attacking reinforcements over Sergio Reguilon

According to ESPN, Manchester United will prioritize the signing of attackers over making a move for Sergio Reguilon.

The Spanish left-back is available this summer following an impressive loan spell at Sevilla. He played a starring role as the Spaniards dumped United out on their way to winning the Europa League title last month.

The 23-year-old’s performances also gained the attention of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Although the club has had internal discussions regarding making a move, their priorities now lie elsewhere.

Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho remains United’s top target this summer. However, issues such as the fee, payments to agents, and the wages continue to be a bone of contention.

The Red Devils signed Donny van de Beek last week. The Dutchman became the club’s first major signing of the summer.

The club is however keen to add to him and are set to get the ball rolling with just under a month to go before the window shuts.

Solskjaer is keen to strengthen his left-back and centre-back areas. However, having spent heavily on his defence last summer, the priority now is to strengthen the forward areas.

The club does lack strength in depth. The same was apparent during the final few weeks of last season. While bringing in Sancho would surely be a morale booster, the squad needs more than just one signing.

It remains to be seen if United will return for Reguilon. According to the report, Madrid would demand a buy-back clause in any deal for Reguilon before letting him leave.

A player with massive potential, it remains to be seen if Untied are willing to accept the caveat.
