Manchester United make contact with the agent of Gabriel Magalhaes
According to French publication RMC Sport (h/t MEN), Manchester United have established contact with the agent of Gabriel Magalhaes.
The 22-year-old defender has been instrumental for Lille in a Ligue 1 season that was eventually cut short. He made 34 appearances this season, scoring one goal.
The Les Dogues star has attracted considerable attention from across the channel. Apart from us, the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Everton are all interested in signing him. (h/t MEN)
Gabriel too is keen on playing in England. He could be available for a modest £27m.
United ‘s capture of Harry Maguire was a boon for what was a porous Red Devils backline. The Englishman considerably strengthened us at the back. However, he is susceptible to pace and can be caught out.
We need to bring in a pacy player who can partner him at the heart of the defence. Not only is Gabriel a pacy player but is also left-footed. This will also allow United to play the right-footed Maguire on the right side of the defence.
With the current campaign almost over, Gabriel will make a decision on his future in the coming days.
Lille could already be preparing for life without their Brazilian ace. They completed the signing of 20-year-old defender Sven Botman from Ajax Amsterdam this week. The Dutchman is seen as a potential long-term replacement for Gabriel.
