Borussia Dortmund ready to accept Manchester United bid for Jadon Sancho

According to German publication Bild (h/t Metro), Borussia Dortmund are ready to accept the bid from Manchester United for Jadon Sancho.

The 20-year-old is United’s top target this summer. The major point of contention was Dortmund’s massive £108m asking price.

The Red Devils were ready to pay the asking price before the pandemic hit. However, following the financial hit imposed by the lockdown, United were keen to negotiate a smaller fee.

With Dortmund unwilling to compromise, the task was to come up with a payment structure that would please the Germans.

It now appears they have managed to do just that. United will initially pay £63m. This will be followed by two instalments in the years to come, worth £27m and £18m.

Not only will the deal meet Dortmund’s asking price but will also give us the leeway to raise funds to make the payment. Dortmund were initially keen to get the price as a lump sum. Thankfully, they have now softened their stance.

Reducing the amount paid up front will also help us throw in a spanner at Manchester City’s chance of benefitting from the deal. The Cityzens are set to receive 15% of the transfer fee that Dortmund are paid as a part of the deal that took Sancho to Signal Iduna Park.

It was agreed by the Premier League and its clubs that every team would be given 30 days from the end of their 2019-20 campaign to recover. With United still in the Europa League, we could start our season at a delayed date. This should work in our favour, giving us more time to bed in new players.

Dortmund had placed August 10 as a deadline for United to make their offers. The omens look good and United look on course to sign the winger.

Signing Sancho would be a statement of intent. The prospect of him linking up without prolific front three is sure to leave the fans drooling.
