David Ornstein dismisses Jack Grealish transfer to Man United

Manchester United are not interested in Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish. This revelation comes from David Ornstein of the Athletic.

The trustworthy journalist held a Q and A session, where he answered a number of questions.

It had been reported extensively that United were in for Grealish. The 24-year-old has enjoyed a personally memorable season despite Villa’s struggles.

Grealish has netted 7 goals and 6 assists in 26 Premier League appearances this season. His acquisition would have been an excellent addition to our midfield especially after the success of Bruno Fernandes.

United are keen on a holding midfielder over Jack Grealish

You can thank Ornstein for ruining that thought as he revealed that United are keen on bringing in a holding midfielder over Grealish.

“Some contacts tell me United are not in for Grealish and are focusing more on a holding midfielder than his kind of position”

Ornstein went on to admit that Grealish will be keen to make a big move away from Villa Park. In a normal market, Villa’s final position in the table would have played a major role in the player’s valuation.

“In a normal market, I think Villa would have been looking for around £40 to 50 million if they got relegated, up to £90 million if they stayed up. ”

Solskjaer already has Fernandes and Paul Pogba in his side. With Scott McTominay also available and Fred showing a marked improvement in form, it makes sense to go for a holding midfielder.

Paul Pogba’s future at United is up in the air

It remains to be seen if Ornstein’s comments indicate Pogba has a future at the club. The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford of late.

Bruno Fernandes had only yesterday commented on playing alongside the United number 6.
