Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix the “only name” Manchester United are being linked with
Joao Felix, Atletico Madrid forward, is currently the “only name” being seriously linked with a move to Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window.
However, the Red Devils are looking to bring players in on loan in January. The Portugal international has fallen down the pecking order at Los Rojiblancos this season.
Speaking via Manchester Evening News, The Athletic’s football correspondent David Ornstein has revealed that the 23-year-old is the one being talked about in association with the Old Trafford side. However, details of a loan move must be appropriate for the Manchester-based club for it to happen.
“I don’t think there’s much money to spend at Manchester United, so I don’t want to disappoint fans, but it’s most likely going to have to be a loan deal.
“The only name I’m hearing primarily at the moment is Joao Felix – again, if the numbers come down on a loan basis.”
Felix joined the La Liga outfit in the summer of 2019 from SL Benfica. He was brilliant in the Primeira Liga, which resulted in high expectations from the 23-year-old in Spain.
However, the Portuguese star has been unable to show glimpses of his talent at Atletico consistently. As a result, the forward has seemingly fallen out of favour under Diego Simeone.
But Felix shone at the 2022 World Cup for Portugal. The forward was a key player for Fernando Santos as they made it to the quarter-finals in Qatar, only to be beaten by Morocco.
The 23-year-old started for Los Rojiblancos in their recent fixture in La Liga against Elche. He found the back of the net as Simeone’s team won 2-0.
United’s forward line lost Cristiano Ronaldo during the mid-season break. Now, Erik ten Hag has Anthony Martial as the lone natural striker in the squad. Unfortunately, the France international has struggled with injuries in the current campaign.

Marcus Rashford has led the line on several occasions to good effect. However, we evidently need to bolster our attack. However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils end up getting Felix’s signature in January.
