Both Manchester United and Man City have fallen in the Deloitte Football Money League
As reported by The Daily Mail, Manchester United and Man City have both fallen down the ranks of the Deloitte Football Money League. This doesn’t come as a surprise for the Red Devils who have been short on financials this season.
Meanwhile, their bitter rivals, The Blues have been overtaken by La Liga giants Real Madrid who have now claimed the number one spot. A bit surprising when you consider how adamant Los Blancos have been about a Super League.
It is also worth noting that the Money League only looks at a club’s annual accounts while not considering their operating costs.
While Manchester United have made more money than they did last season, it seems like FC Barcelona have been making more. The Catalan club has reclaimed the Red Devils’ previous spot and now sit at fourth.
Manchester United and Man City are now the only Premier League clubs to be ranked within the top five. Moreover, Paris Saint-Germain is the only team from Ligue One that has earned a top-ten ranking.
It goes to show how the success of these clubs on the pitch has translated to more money being in their bank accounts. With the arrival of INEOS, these figures will likely go up next season.
