Manchester United could lose out on their transfer target as the Spurs have now entered the fray. As reported by The Sun, the Red Devils have long been eyeing a move for Serie A star, Joshua Zirkzee who has a cheap €40m release clause.

The 22-year-old Serie A striker has taken the world by storm with his recent form. In 22 appearances, Zirkzee has recorded eight goals and four assists for his team this season.

His talent has even brought the Spurs to the table. As reported by Italian publication, Tutto Mercato Web, Tottenham have also expressed their interest in the Dutch striker.

The 22-year-old striker would be a perfect fit at Manchester United. His deep-lying playstyle could work well in tandem with Marcus Rashford’s tendency to drive inside.

However, now that the Lilywhites are involved, the Red Devils will surely face a lot of difficulties in their pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee. It seems like Postecoglou is very interested in bolstering his attacking line.

Well even if Manchester United don’t end up getting their hands on the Dutch striker, they will still have Rasmus Hojlund. The Danish striker is younger than Zirkzee and has a higher ceiling as well.

The team just needs to give more time to young Rasmus Hojlund and he will become a reliable option for them in the future. Manchester United should instead be focusing on bringing in a new midfielder during the summer.
