Transfer News: Manchester United to battle Man City for Declan Rice
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United will battle Man City for the signing of Declan Rice. While it will be a straightforward one for City, United can only go after the player if they can sell off Fred.
The 22-year-old has been one of the best players in his age group and has been critical in the Hammers’ bid for European qualification. Despite his age, his ability and leadership qualities make him stand out among his peers.
A defensive midfielder, Rice is also capable of playing at centre-back. His versatility will give manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a good option.
With Rice’s contract at West Ham running until 2024, the Hammers hold the advantage when it comes to negotiations. It will not be easy for United or City to land the English international.
Both the Manchester clubs want to sign him in the summer to refresh their midfield engines. The problem for Solskjaer will be Fred, who will need to be moved on so that they can sign Rice.
