Manchester United’s Altay Bayindir recalls how he started on his journey to be a goalkeeper
Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is expected to get his first start for the team next Sunday. The Red Devils will be taking on Newport County in the fourth round of the FA Cup which is also the team’s last hope of silverware this season.
The Turkish giant will have a golden opportunity to perform now that Andre Onana is away with the Cameroon national team. However, he could end up not missing any games at all if Cameroon don’t get past the group stage.
With Bayindir getting close to realising his team, he recently sat down with the Manchester United team. The 25-year-old began to explain how he started to dream of becoming a goalkeeper.
Here’s what Bayindir had to say about his dreams. (h\t Manchester United)
“When I’m younger, I was watching a lot of games and I don’t remember which game, but one game, I’m watching with my parents.
“Everything is just in the goalkeeper’s hands. If he does the save, everyone will be happy.
“I was thinking, it’s a very good feeling to be able to do this: I will be a goalkeeper.”
It seems like Bayindir was so amped at the thought of making a difference with your hands that he dedicated his whole life to it. He also shed some light on the atmosphere around the club.
While many would believe that Manchester United are currently in shambles, the 25-year-old claims that all of the players on the team are like a big family who are fighting for each other.
Erik ten Hag will surely be happy to hear Bayindir’s comments. It looks like despite the poor season they’ve been having, the team has done well to stick together.
