Manchester United keeper Altay Bayindir considering Old Trafford exit
According to the Turkish outlet Fotomoc (h/t Manchester Evening News), summer signing Altay Bayindir might be ready to leave Manchester United just months after joining. It would be a major setback for us since we already are short of keepers.
With Andre Onana’s uncertainty wavering over the Old Trafford air due to his involvement in AFCON in a few months’ time, we surely can’t lose another keeper. It may be due to his dissatisfaction with his lack of playing time, Bayindir is thinking of joining Galatasaray, a strong competitor of his old club.
After Andre Onana was favoured in goal for the Carabao Cup matches against Crystal Palace and Newcastle United, he is still awaiting his club debut. At Galatasaray, the starting custodian remains 37-year-old Fernando Muslera, whose contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
It seems that Muslera is still playing well; in half of his 12 Super Liga games this season, he has kept clean sheets. However, Galatasaray is holding off on giving Muslera a new contract. They might seek Bayindir if they decide to invest in a long-term replacement after his standards deteriorate.
On the other hand, Bayindir might be given the chance to quit Manchester United in 2024, even if his contract at Old Trafford runs until 2027. However, losing another defensive asset will be a major setback for us.
United must have gained the much-needed momentum now that they are once again rising quickly in the standings, and this shouldn’t be destroyed by any possibility. The defence appears to be more coordinated now than it did at the start of the season. We hope United has sufficient backup options to make these kinds of decisions.

Who Man Utd might choose to replace Bayindir when the time comes is still unknown, but it makes sense that, having been a no.1 at Fenerbahce, he might not be quite satisfied with the way Erik ten Hag has only been utilising Onana thus far.
