Erik ten Hag confirms new Manchester United signings Rasmus Hojlund, Altay Bayindir, and Sergio Reguilon are fit to feature against Arsenal
Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has stated that Rasmus Hojlund, Altay Bayindir, and Sergio Reguilon are fit and ready to participate in the upcoming Premier League match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Following a remarkable 3-2 comeback victory against Nottingham Forest last weekend, the Red Devils are looking to maintain their winning form and carry it into the game against the Gunners.
As the summer transfer window deadline approaches, United fans are likely feeling more optimistic than their counterparts, as the club has secured three additions in the final hours.
Reguilon and Bayindir have already been confirmed as new arrivals from Tottenham and Fenerbahce, respectively.
Additionally, recent rumours state that Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat’s transfer will also be finalised in the upcoming hours. Meanwhile, Hojlund, who was hosting a back injury, has already started training this week and is doing well.
When asked if he expects his new signings to be prepared for the upcoming match against Arsenal this weekend, Ten Hag gave a positive update. While talking to MUTV (as quoted by the club’s official website), the gaffer was first asked about Hojlund’s availability, and he said:
“Yes. He had a good training week, tomorrow we have a final training but he’s doing well, he’s responding well. So, yeah, he’ll be available for Sunday’s game.”
When asked about Bayindir and Reguilon’s chances of making it to the game, the manager said:
“He will be in the squad as well, Altay. So, [we’re] happy we have the keeper group. It’s fully there, we’ve covered every position. Yes [on Reguilon]. He is here, he trained.”
It is a very important game for the Red Devils, and no doubt, these player’s presence in the squad will help the manager assemble a competitive team on Sunday.
Arsenal are performing well this season and could be a hard opponent to break at their home stadium. However, United, with their new signings, will give Mikel Arteta a reason to worry about.
It would be a difficult test for both sides, but more so for Ten Hag, as the manager is missing some key starting XI players. Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, and Mason Mount’s presence would be sorely missed.
Victor Lindelof is expected to take cover for Varane, and Reguilon or Diogo Dalot could be deployed at the left-back spot. Christian Eriksen could take Mount’s place in the line-up.
It’s uncertain whether Amrabat could be ready to face the Gunners since he has been brought in very late in the transfer window.
