Manchester United star finally getting AFCON start after recent outburst
Andre Onana was in a race against time last Sunday as he left Manchester United to fly over for AFCON. The Cameroonian goalkeeper got on a flight immediately after Sunday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur.
Unfortunately for him, his flight had to be diverted due to unfavorable weather conditions, leading to him not being picked for the final squad. This did not sit right with Onana, who felt it was a waste to get a private jet just to be left out.
However, he will finally be getting his start during Cameroon’s next AFCON game. He is expected to stand in goal when his team goes up against Senegal.
Now with Onana chasing glory at AFCON, Manchester United will finally be able to test out Altay Bayindir. Standing tall at a staggering 1.98m the 25-year-old is very highly rated amongst the team. The team paid £4.3m for the goalkeeper.
If he performs well, there is a very real possibility that Andre Onana could end up losing his place in the squad. The Cameroonian may be the number one keeper on the squad but there isn’t a lot of gap between him and Bayindir.
If Andre Onana gets further in AFCON he’ll end up missing at least four teams for the game. Four golden opportunities for the Turkish goalkeeper to prove his worth to Erik ten Hag.
