Fenerbahce shot-stopper Altay Bayindir transfer being worked on by Manchester United
Manchester United have started an ‘official attempt’ to acquire the services of Fenerbahce shot-stopper Altay Bayindir this summer, according to CNN Turk (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have started their endeavour to get a hold of the 25-year-old’s signature in the ongoing transfer window. However, it remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford side will be able to get a deal over the line.
As things stand, United have already seen a massive change in between the sticks in recent weeks. David de Gea parted ways with the club after his contract expired at the end of June.
Subsequently, the Red Devils signed Andre Onana from Inter Milan to be the new number one. The Cameroonian has previously played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax Amsterdam and seemingly suits the gaffer’s style of play.
The 27-year-old was impressive at the Nerazzurri last season. Simone Inzaghi’s team made it to the Champions League final and the goalkeeper impressed despite the Serie A outfit’s loss to Manchester City.
As things stand, the goalkeeping department consists of Tom Heaton, who has played a big role during the Old Trafford side’s pre-season friendlies this summer. We also have Dean Henderson in our ranks for now. However, the English national could leave the club in the coming weeks.
Nathan Bishop has left United in the ongoing transfer window. The young goalkeeper joined Sunderland in the Championship for an undisclosed fee. Matej Kovar is also in our ranks for now.
Bayindir established himself at MKE Ankaragucu in the Super Lig before making his way to Fenerbahce in the summer of 2019. Over the years, the Turkey international has been the number one for the Istanbul-based club.

If the Red Devils see more departures from their goalkeeping department, then reinforcements will evidently be required. In that case, will Bayindir be the one to bolster the Old Trafford side’s squad? Only time will tell.
