Manchester United are interested in signing Napoli midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa
According to Napoli Calcio Live (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are interested in signing Napoli midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa in the coming summer transfer window.
The report reveals that the Red Devils have a serious interest in the former Fulham midfielder, who was part of the Scudetto-winning Napoli squad this season.
Anguissa had an exceptional campaign for Luciano Spalletti’s men in the midfield. He scored three goals and assisted seven in 41 appearances in all competitions.
The 27-year-old Cameroon international is a central midfielder who can play as a lone defensive midfielder too. In the current season, he played as a right-sided number eight in a three-man midfield. The other two players in that department were Piotr Zielinski and Stanislav Lobotka.
Anguissa is not the first Napoli player United have had an interest in by the way. Striker Victor Osimhen has been linked with the Red Devils, while centre-back Kim Min-Jae is among the targets as well.
With Fred and Scott McTominay only playing the fringe role under Erik ten Hag, it won’t be surprising to see both of them depart Old Trafford in the summer. Moreover, Christian Eriksen (31) and Casemiro (31) aren’t getting any younger.
So, ten Hag could do with an addition or two in the central midfield department. Although Anguissa’s loan spell at Fulham was not a good one a few years ago, he is a much better player now and has the experience of winning a league in Italy.
