Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that Manchester United deserve to be in the current league position

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp while speaking ahead of the final run-in of the season, as covered by Manchester Evening News, has praised both Manchester United and Newcastle United for the work they have done throughout the season and that they deserve top four.

Liverpool have been the second most in-form team in the league with six wins on the trot and suddenly find themselves in contention for the UEFA Champions League spots with just a point behind United, albeit with an extra game played.

In what was looking like a smooth ride for us to the top four, suddenly the position seems in jeopardy with Liverpool creeping in.

Dropped points against Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton & Hove Albion and recently West Ham United have brought us in a position, which could seriously falter the good work throughout the season.

Klopp, however, believes that the teams above Liverpool United and Newcastle deserve to be in the position that they are in and for Liverpool, all they can do is win the remaining fixtures.

“We have to win but maybe nothing changes. Weeks ago, Champions League was completely out of sight but we have got closer. But if Newcastle and Manchester United finish the season above us, they deserve it. It’s just about us winning. That’s it.”

United have Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bournemouth, Chelsea and Fulham as the remaining four games with three out of those games at Old Trafford.

That is good news considering the impeccable home form we have shown in contrast to the despicable away form. If Liverpool wins all their remaining games, we would need at least three wins out of the four games to stand a chance to finish in the top four with our low goal difference also a concern.

Despite the recent setbacks, the team has shown throughout the season its resilience and ability to bounce back and it is time that we stand behind the players and provide full support.

The top four is still in our hands despite Liverpool’s resurgence and with the opposition run-in also not that difficult, three wins out of four is definitely a big possibility.
