West Ham United manager David Moyes believes Manchester United target Declan Rice could leave this summer

West Ham United manager David Moyes, while speaking ahead of the fixtures on the weekend (h/t Manchester Evening News) believes that losing Manchester United target Declan Rice is a real possibility in the summer window.

The 24-year-old England international is the current captain of the Hammers and has been one of the standout midfielders of the Premier League in the past few seasons despite West Ham’s up-and-down form.

He is by far their best player and with all due respect, does deserve a move to a top team that competes in the UEFA Champions League on a regular basis.

All Premier League top teams have shown interest in the England international and Moyes believes that the player could indeed end up leaving the London stadium in the summer window.

“We honestly hope he stays. We’d love for him to be a West Ham player but we are aware that might not be the case at the end of the season. So that’s one of the scenarios around plans. There are plans that we have Dec here but we’re also fully aware there is a good chance we won’t have him.”

United have also registered their interest in the player but it certainly will not be an easy competition to acquire the signature of the player. Liverpool and Arsenal are also deemed interested while many speculations of the player preferring Arsenal have surfaced recently.

Of course, there is still a chance for United to avail the services of the player but for that, we would need to secure UEFA Champions League qualification. Rice would be an excellent addition to the team who is crying out loud for a ball progressor who can sit alongside Casemiro and form a devastating pivot.

Casemiro’s suspensions over the season have shown the need of having another similar type of profile in the team and Rice can wonderfully slot in the Brazilian’s position whenever required.

The fee that would be demanded by West Ham would certainly not be less and it depends on how much funds we have available for the summer window. While acquiring a forward is a priority no.1, we do need another top midfielder that can push the level of the team and help us fight for the title next season.
