Serie A club’s interest in Manchester United defender could see Erik ten Hag favourite move to Old Trafford

Manchester United star could help the club sign Erik ten Hag favourite from Serie A club

As reported by Italian outlet Gazzetta, Inter Milan are interested in signing Manchester United defender, Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The 26-year-old has strung together a series of good performances since his return from injury.

In his last three starts for the team, Wan-Bissaka has looked like Old Trafford’s best defender. He has struggled with a ton of injuries this season missing a total of 16 games. However, the English defender is now back and has found his rhythm.

Inter Milan have a decision to make regarding their right flank. Their main man, Denzel Dumfries is running out of contract in 2025 and the team has not been able to reach an agreement over a new extension. However, with the development of interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka, both teams now have something to gain.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka can help Man United land Denzel Dumfries

Ever since Erik ten Hag took the helm of Man United the club has constantly been linked with Denzel Dumfries. The Dutchman is an admirer of the 27-year-old midfielder and has wanted him on his team for quite some time now.

However, the Red Devils have never been able to fulfil that request for Ten Hag. But, things are different now and the Old Trafford squad now has someone who is of interest to the Serie A Club.

So, the team can leverage Aaron Wan-Bissaka and try and land a deal for Erik ten Hag favourite, Denzel Dumfries. The Dutch midfielder is a solid player, he has made 31 appearances this season scoring three goals while providing three assists.

Dumfries is an excellent playmaker and Erik ten Hag is in desperate need of a player like him. The Dutchman should push for a deal during the summer because this time around the Red Devils have a shot at singing the 27-year-old.

The only reason Inter Milan and Dumfries have not been able to agree on a new contract is because of the player’s salary demands. The Red Devils have been paying absurd amounts to just about anyone recently.

So, the club will likely be more than happy to meet Dumfries’ salary demands. While it can cost the team Aaron Wan-Bissaka the deal is more than worth it to go after. The English defender is a quality player, but he can’t be relied on to stay fit.

Moreover, Manchester United already have quality players at both RB and LB. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia will be back in action soon. On the other hand, Diogo Dalot has already been stellar over at Right Back.

Man United should go all in on Denzel Dumfries

So, Manchester United will not deplete themselves by moving the 26-year-old. Moreover, the team is expected to go after a ton of defenders in the summer which means that reinforcements are already on the way.

It is not every day that you come across a golden opportunity to sign a quality player like Denzel Dumfries. The Red Devils should be doing everything in their power to sign the 27-year-old when summer arrives.

However, one key aspect to consider is Erik ten Hag’s future at the club. The Dutchman might not be able to hold onto his job next season. So, the club will in no way be prompted to go after a player who is highly coveted by him.

Barring a sack for Erik ten Hag, nothing is stopping the Red Devils from going after Dumfries this summer.
