Manchester United scouting Feyenoord duo Orkun Kokcu and Santiago Gimenez
Manchester United ‘sent scouts’ to watch Feyenoord duo Orkun Kokcu and Santiago Gimenez play against Ajax Amsterdam, according to the Mirror (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Rotterdam-based club took on De Godenzonen in the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup on Wednesday (5 April). Unfortunately, the match descended into chaos and had to be stopped a couple of times before the Eredivisie champions won 2-1.
However, the Red Devils were monitoring two players from the losing team, including their captain. Kokcu is a midfielder who has made his way through the youth ranks at Feyenoord.
Over the years, the Turkey international has been a key player for the team that plays at De Kuip. He broke into their first team in the 2018/10 season and has been an ever-present member of the senior squad ever since.
In the current campaign, the 22-year-old is enjoying his best spell at the Rotterdam-based club. He has made 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists.
As for Gimenez, he plays as a striker and signed for Feyenoord in the summer of 2022. The Mexico international is enjoying a prolific campaign under Arne Slot.
The 21-year-old has made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Rotterdam-based club this season. He has found the back of the net 18 times and has provided four assists.
Since Erik ten Hag’s arrival, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen have been the preferred duo in the double pivot in the midfield. The two signings from last summer have been impressive. Unfortunately, in their absence, our bench strength has left a lot to be desired.
As for the Red Devils’ front line, Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst are the only two natural number nines at the Dutch manager’s disposal. But the French national has been injury prone this season, while the Burnley loanee is only at the club until the end of the campaign.

Therefore, the Old Trafford side evidently do with some reinforcements in the middle of the park as well as the striking department. However, it remains to be seen whether the Manchester-based club will go beyond monitoring Kokcu and Gimenez.
