Manchester United star Christian Eriksen has returned to first-team training after coming back from his injury, which the midfielder picked up in January.

In the Red Devils’ fourth-round FA Cup tie against Reading, which we won 3-1, the Denmark international picked up a knock. Since then, the 31-year-old has been on the sidelines and has been unavailable.

However, speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Erik ten Hag has given a positive update regarding Eriksen. However, the Danish national is not expected to feature just yet.

“Not for tomorrow but he’s returning on the pitch. He’s returning into team training today, so we have to see now how quickly he can make the progress.”

The Old Trafford side will take on Brentford next in the Premier League on Wednesday (5 April). It seems the game has come too soon for the 31-year-old to make his return.

Eriksen signed for United in the summer of 2022 as a free agent. Since then, he has surprised many with some impressive displays. Subsequently, the midfielder has become a pivotal player for Erik ten Hag at the Manchester-based club.

Before his injury, the Danish national was the gaffer’s preferred option in the double pivot in the middle of the park alongside Casemiro. The two summer 2022 signings have formed a decent partnership in the engine room this season.

In Eriksen’s absence, the former Ajax head coach has had to count on the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay. However, while the two have their moments, they leave a lot to be desired in terms of their quality on the ball.

In January, the Red Devils got Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich to add depth to the midfield ranks. The Austrian has become an important player, especially with Casemiro also picking up multiple suspensions in the last few weeks.
